Maintenance Technician

Based in the heart of the historic city centre and situated on the banks of the Leie River in the medieval harbour of the city, the Ghent Marriott boasts 150 bedrooms, 9 meeting and events spaces, a destination restaurant and a terrace overlooking the canal. In addition to the two iconic hotels, our owners are in the process of developing an additional hotel & meeting centre that we aim to open in the next 2 years.

The hotels are managed by Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA, is a division of the global Aimbridge Hospitality brand. We manage over 1,600 hotels and resorts worldwide that include big brands such as Hilton, Accor, Marriott and IHG as well as small independent hotels and everything in between, including a portfolio of prestigious hotels in Ghent.

To expand our business, we are now looking for a Maintenance Technician.

A day in the life of...

As Maintenance Assistant, you will:

  • Support the Hotel Maintenance Manager with both planned and reactive maintenance, defect repair and health & safety checks in line with Interstate core values:
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for yourself, guests and colleagues in line with the company's security, operating and environmental policies
  • Carry out mandatory checks and maintenance on all electrical equipment and plant, whilst reporting accurately on the status throughout.
  • Liaise with the wider hotel team to ensure a smooth and efficient service is provided at all times.
  • Ensure your are well organised to guarantee minimum impact to guests and colleagues, whilst also delivering a consistently high standard of work and attention to detail durng each shift.

What do we need from you?

To be successful in this role, you will need a good understanding of hotel services along with experience within a maintenance role. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in one or more building trades including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting/ decorating or general building maintenance.
Good electrical knowledge is required for this job.

You are available on call, in a shift system, for emergency technical interventions outside working hours. You receive a monthly fee for your on-call shifts
