Midtown Grill is Ghent’s premier steakhouse, known for serving up the finest cuts and bold flavors, all within the luxurious setting of the Ghent Marriott. We are now looking for a Restaurant General Manager with a passion for hospitality to strengthen our team.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Business & Financial Performance
- Develop and execute strategic plans, including budgeting, forecasting, and revenue management.
- Oversee financial performance, ensuring profitability through cost control, purchasing efficiency, and inventory management.
- Identify market opportunities, analyze competitors, and implement innovative strategies to drive growth.
- Collaborate with marketing teams on campaigns, promotions, and social media initiatives to enhance the restaurant’s visibility and reputation.
- Apply revenue management strategies to optimize table bookings and maximize revenue.
2. Food & Beverage Excellence
- Partner with the Director of Operations and Advisory Chef to develop exciting menu offerings, food and wine promotions, and innovative culinary experiences.
- Maintain high food quality standards, ensuring consistency in preparation, presentation, and service.
- Develop and execute beverage programs within company standards and agreements.
- Champion sustainability efforts, such as local sourcing, seasonal menus, and food waste reduction.
- Oversee compliance with food safety, hygiene, and liquor control policies.
- Develop and execute a whisky and bourbon program with chocolate pairing, creating a unique and immersive guest experience.
- Champion sustainability efforts, such as local product sourcing and building partnerships with suppliers and local producers to support the local market.
3. Guest Experience & Service Excellence
- Lead the team to deliver world-class service, ensuring every guest enjoys a personalized and memorable experience.
- Monitor guest feedback and online reputation (TripAdvisor, Google Reviews), implementing improvements where needed.
- Train and empower employees to provide exceptional service, ensuring guest satisfaction and retention.
- Ensure attention to detail in all aspects of service, from table settings to plating presentation and guest interactions.
- Address guest concerns with professionalism, taking proactive measures to enhance service quality.
- Oversee ambiance, ensuring lighting, music, and table settings align with the restaurant’s concept and brand.
4. Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development.
- Conduct performance evaluations, succession planning, and recognition initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with workplace policies, including safety, health regulations, and labour laws.
- Lead by example, demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence.
5. Operations & Compliance
- Manage daily restaurant operations, ensuring adherence to company policies and brand standards.
- Oversee inventory control, purchasing, and supplier relations to optimize costs and maintain quality.
- Ensure all health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol regulations are strictly followed.
- Implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) for smooth restaurant operations.
- Maintain service readiness by ensuring all equipment, dining areas, and kitchen facilities are in top condition.
6. Marketing & Community Engagement
- Develop and execute marketing strategies in collaboration with hotel management and brand teams.
- Manage restaurant-related social media, public relations, and promotional events.
- Partner with local influencers, media, and community leaders to enhance brand awareness.
- Support and participate in off-site networking and community engagement activities.
