Midtown Grill is Ghent’s premier steakhouse, known for serving up the finest cuts and bold flavors, all within the luxurious setting of the Ghent Marriott. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Sous Chef to join our team and provide an exceptional dining experience to our guests.

Tasks

As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to ensure the team delivers outstanding service every time, in line with company standards. The hotel operates the Poppi Lounge Bar & Terrace, Midtown Grill Restaurant, 24/7 Room Service and extensive banqueting facilities.

You will ensure that the high quality of food and service is offered across all outlets consistently, and work with the Executive Chef to implement quality controls where appropriate.
You will proactively train and develop the team to ensure that we are not only operating in line with mandatory training requirements but also actively building capability and fostering a culture of development across the department.
You will ensure team targets and individual KPIs are met, whilst ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and compliance within the kitchen.
You will be responsible for stock management within the kitchen, ensuring effective rotation and waste management, place food orders in line with current needs and within budget parameters.
You help develop and implement new menus for the outlets so that our guests can always enjoy fresh, tasty, seasonal dishes

Profile

As you are responsible for assisting with the overall success of the food program and overseeing culinary functions for the restaurant, you will need a minimum of 3 years of relevant work-related experience. You will also be proficient in English and preferably also Dutch. You have great coaching and communication skills.
